SUMMARY:The Brain Architecture Game – The Impact of Early Childhood Experiences
DESCRIPTION:This is a free\, in-person training for adoptive\, foster\, relative and kinship families in the Greater Duluth area. \nWe will explore the impact of attachment on brain development through an interactive game by looking at experiences that strengthen or weaken an individual’s ability to withstand stress. This will demonstrate the impact of life events on brain development and lifelong implications for resiliency. We will discuss how this relates to challenges you are facing with the children in your care and tactics to help the children learn new coping skills. Dinner will be provided. \nChildcare registration is required at: 218-590-1785\nSpace is limited\, and on a first come first serve registration. If childcare is needed\, please include: first name and age of each child\, and if anyone has any allergies. Please list emergency contact other than the parent (s)/guardian (s) with (first/last name\, relationship\, and cell number). \nPresented by: Tracy Henegar is a Human Development and Relationships Educator for the UW-Madison Division of Extension for Douglas & Bayfield Counties. She has a master’s in human services with an emphasis in Family Life Education. With more than 20 years of experience working with families and at-risk youth in the Douglas County WI area\, her current work focuses on family education and professional development\, with an emphasis on mental health and wellbeing\, and on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and resilience. \nTracy is an active member of the Douglas County Fostering Futures Initiative on trauma-informed care and the Douglas County Mental Health Coordinated Community Response Coalition. She became a Mental Health First Aid national trainer in August of 2018 and has trained more than 800 adults throughout the region in Mental Health First Aid/Youth Mental Health First Aid. \nQuestions?
