DESCRIPTION:This education option is the balance between the in-person and online options. It is best suited for individuals who want to move swiftly and prefer a blended learning style. \nYour education will begin with an online pre-test as well as introductory and a guest speaker section of online learning. This can be completed at your convenience prior to the one required live session. The live session is a shorter\, in-person day of learning. Following the in-person session\, you will finish by viewing content from two more guest speakers\, closing online material\, and a post-test.

SUMMARY:[FosterEd] Adoption and Development Across the Lifespan
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a webinar with Sue Badeau. Adoption has an impact on development\, and developmental stages have an impact on adoption. This workshop provides an overview of key developmental stages and tasks\, highlighting those developmental issues that are most relevant to the adoption\, with a specific focus on the impact of adoption on identity and lifelong development. Examples of developmental issues to be discussed include the development of trust\, separation and attachment\, connection and belonging\, adolescent identity development\, and impact of adoption on adult development. \nSue Badeau trains\, consults and speaks on trauma\, racial justice\, family and youth engagement\, self-care\, adoption\, child development\, parenting and more. She serves on Boards of the Association for Training and Treatment of Trauma in Children (ATTACh)\, The Center for Pediatric Traumatic Stress\, and Imara International. She is an in-demand consultant for public and private child welfare\, youth and adult justice and mental health agencies\, courts\, prison systems\, and other organizations worldwide. Sue and her husband\, Hector\, when not volunteering in Kenya\, live fulltime in an RV\, traveling and spending time with their 22 children and 50+ grand and great grandchildren. They have also fostered 75 children and hosted refugees from Kosovo and Sudan. They co-authored  Are We There Yet: The Ultimate Road Trip\, Adopting and Raising 22 Kids;  Building Bridges of Hope: A Coloring Book for Adults Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma and other books.

SUMMARY:Pride Family Support Group
DESCRIPTION:The group was created to provide foster and adoptive caregivers who are part of the LGBTQ+ community an opportunity to connect about their experiences as foster and adoptive parents. \nThis group is facilitated by CH/LSS staff. Participants may have worked with\, or currently be working with\, any agency/county for foster care or any type of adoption (foster care\, infant\, international). We ask that participants who are currently in the foster care/adoption process be home study approved. This service is provided by funding made possible by the Minnesota Department of Children\, Youth\, and Families. \nMeeting Details\nThis group will meet on the second Monday of the month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. (CT). Meetings will alternate monthly between online and in-person sessions. There is no cost to attend. Childcare will be offered for in-person groups. You may register to attend one\, multiple\, or all dates offered below. \nIn-person meetings will take place at our main office location: 1605 Eustis Street\, Saint Paul\, MN 55108. \nFor virtual meetings\, you will receive a Zoom link via email the day of the meeting.

Parents will walk away with a plan to implement structure and routine at home\, complete with discussion about accountability and consequences that are developmentally appropriate for your children. \nPresenter: Angie Ellsworth\, MS\, LSW\, LSC | Timeout Behavior Coaching \nAngie provides in-home parent coaching to support families in meaningful and transformative ways. She and her team at Timeout Behavior Coaching support families through complex situations\, including adoption\, behavior challenges\, child protection\, foster care\, mental health concerns and navigating special education. \nAngie has more the 20-years of experience supporting students with academic\, behavioral and mental health challenges and the adults who love\, live and work with them.
