DESCRIPTION:Join us for an insightful webinar exploring the impact of rising anti-Asian hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of Asian adolescents. We will begin by defining anti-Asian crimes and racial discrimination\, providing a foundational understanding of these critical issues. The discussion will then delve into the unique psychological impacts of racial discrimination on adolescents’ mental health\, with a focus on the specific challenges faced by Asian American youth. We will highlight protective factors and strategies to enhance support systems for these adolescents. Additionally\, the webinar will feature a compelling case study to illustrate these concepts in a real-world context. \nSoyoul Song is a 4th-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota. She earned her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota.
