DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: This is an in-person professionals only training located at Great River Regional Library (Bremer Room 104) – 1300 W Germain  St. Cloud\, MN 56301. Please see DCYF newsletter for coupon code. \nTime will be spent doing a short overview of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and how it can be useful for treating the impacts of trauma and other disturbing events.  Then discussion of practical self-care strategies in order to continue to navigate secondary traumatic stress and burn out from working in the mental health world.  This will include experiences during the workshop of practicing self-care tools and planning future practices. \n\nAmber Morrighan\, LMFT\, MA\, PACC is the owner of Healing Connections Therapy and Consulting LLC in St. Cloud\, MN.  She is an experienced Mental Health Therapist\, Clinical\, and Program Supervisor with a demonstrated history of working in the individual and family services industry.

How do we\, as parents and caregivers\, manage electronics in our children’s lives for maximum safety for them\, and maximum sanity for us? Find out the answer at this workshop! The Kaumans are using real life experiences backed up by his training and experience as a County Children’s Mental Health Case Manager. \n\nBob\, and his wife Holly\, are current adoptive parents of three awesome teenagers\, and live in rural\, northern Minnesota.  Bob and Holly also have 4 wonderful adult bio-children\, and 5 grandsons.  In addition\, Bob has been a County Children’s Mental Health Case Manager for 14 years.   Bob and Holly will bring practical principles for real life parenting\, as well as examples from Bob’s job working with families for the County.

SUMMARY:Parenting in Racially and Culturally Diverse Families Training
DESCRIPTION:This training helps participants understand the impact of parenting children from different racial/ethnic/cultural backgrounds and to know how to honor and incorporate child’s race/ethnicity/culture into their existing family system. Strategies are identified to help children develop positive and proud identities and to help children and families prepare for and handle racism in all forms. Openness to a child’s sexual orientation and gender identity and expression and viewing these differences from a strengths-based perspective is also highlighted. \nThis training is for Ampersand non-relative families who are going through the home study assessment process. Please consult with your permanency specialist before signing up. \nAll trainings are subject to change or cancellation based on need.
