SUMMARY:Foster Care and Education Classes – Online
DESCRIPTION:The online track is best suited for individuals who want flexibility\, have limited business hour availability\, and/or those who prefer virtual learning. \nCouples may complete their education together or pursue it separately. Either way\, each participant must attend the entirety of their chosen track. \nIn this track\, you will complete your education over a four-week period. In addition to pre- and post-tests to assess your learning\, you will participate in a required\, pre-scheduled check-in with our education facilitators each week. \nThis class is available in Spanish upon request.

SUMMARY:Black Teens in Action 2026 Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Black Teens in Action is a youth driven\, in-person program where Black teens can grow\, connect\, and take action together. Over four weeks\, participants will design and lead a community service project that makes a real impact—whether it’s hosting a block party\, organizing a cleanup\, or preparing meals for those in need.\nYouth will meet once a week for three weeks to plan\, gain leadership and advocacy skills\, build relationships\, and explore their cultural identity through meaningful discussions and team-building activities. The final fourth week is dedicated to bringing their project to life in the local BIPOC community. \nYouth will receive a stipend of $550 for their time and leadership if they participate in the entire program. Dinner will be provided at each meeting. \nTo qualify for Black Teens in Action\, teens need to be: \n\nBetween 13-17 years-old\nIdentify as Black or African American\nHave been adopted\, or currently in Foster Care or Kinship Care in Minnesota.\n\nThis program can only accommodate 10 youth on a first come first serve\, all other youth will be waitlisted.\n\nDates: \n\nJanuary 6\, 2026\nJanuary 13\, 2026\nJanuary 20\, 2026\nJanuary 27\, 2026\n\nTime: 5:30pm – 7:30pm \nLocation: Storehouse Grocers in St. Paul (subject to change) \nUMOJA MN is a MN Department of Children\, Youth and Families funded program for families and caregivers of Black children and youth who are adopted or fostered in MN.

SUMMARY:Building Felt Safety Around Bedtime for Kids Who Have Experienced Trauma (From a Previously Exhausted Foster/Adoptive Mom)
DESCRIPTION:Bedtime can be one of the hardest parts of the day for children who have experienced trauma\, and for the caregivers who love them. In this workshop\, Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant and foster/adoptive parent Allison Ezell will share insights from her family’s journey through foster care and adoption and offer practical\, trauma-informed strategies to help kids feel truly safe at bedtime. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of what’s behind bedtime battles\, along with tools to create more peace\, connection\, and rest for everyone in your home.
