SUMMARY:Existential Helping: A Holistic Approach to Supporting LGBTQIA+ Youth
DESCRIPTION:Supporting LGBTQIA+ youth who have experienced marginalization requires more than interventions—it requires presence\, humility\, and the ability to sit with uncertainty. Existential Helping is a relational framework that centers meaning-making\, autonomy\, and authentic connection\, helping providers respond to youth experiences without minimizing\, fixing\, or rescuing. In this interactive webinar\, participants will practice using Existential Helping to strengthen one-on-one engagement with LGBTQIA+ youth. Through guided reflection and experiential activities\, participants will learn how to demonstrate empathy rather than sympathy\, “hold space” during difficult conversations\, and support youth in exploring identity\, values\, and purpose amid racial and anti-LGBTQIA+ trauma. \nParticipants will leave with:\n• Skills to deepen trust and connection through presence and curiosity\n• Techniques for holding space without problem-solving or pathologizing\n• Practical tools to support youth agency\, self-definition\, and meaning-making

SUMMARY:Ready\, Set\, Launch! Coaching Teens into a Future They’re Prepared For
DESCRIPTION:Launching a teen into adulthood requires clarity\, support\, and connection—especially for adopted youth who may be navigating additional layers of identity work\, anxiety\, or developmental gaps. This workshop equips parents and caregivers with practical tools to guide teens toward independence while honoring both their strengths and their vulnerabilities. \nIn this future-focused session\, you’ll learn how to build routines that strengthen executive functioning\, emotional resilience\, and self-leadership. You’ll discover how to replace conflict with curiosity\, create structure without power struggles\, and set boundaries that inspire accountability and confidence. \nAs the world continues to shift rapidly\, teens need far more than academic preparation. They need emotional grounding\, identity security\, and real-world readiness. This workshop empowers parents and caregivers to step into the role of supportive coach\, guiding their teens toward adulthood with clarity\, compassion\, and confidence. \nDesigned with adoptive families in mind\, this training integrates trauma-informed practices and identity-sensitive strategies that support both independence and connection. It is rooted in action: real tools\, concrete systems\, and co-created plans that help families move from uncertainty to direction.

SUMMARY:Understanding Complex Grief and Loss in Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:May is National Foster Care Month and this training was planned with foster youth and foster families in mind! Grief and loss are deeply imbedded in the foster care process. When youth are removed from their family\, they often grieve. Similarly\, when foster families care for youth that eventually leave their home\, they often grieve. This webinar will discuss the emotional processes of grief and loss as they apply to both foster youth and foster families. Case examples will be included that illustrate how grief and loss dynamics present themselves and how understanding foster care grief and loss can help in responding in a supportive and healing manner.

SUMMARY:Creating a NEW Narrative
DESCRIPTION:What do teens bring to the table? What assets do they have since they have no money? First\, teens need to be seen beyond their needs while in foster care. They need to be viewed as experts in their own right from an asset-based perspective. This session is designed to expose participants to the concept of ‘asset-framing’. Michael facilitates a guided discussion on how to develop a strength-based mindset around teens.
