DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, attendees will:\n– Understand the concept of ambiguous loss and disenfranchised grief for people whose children are parented by others due to a termination of parental rights\, transfer of legal custody\, foster care\, parental alienation\, and similar circumstances.\n– Recognize reasons for removal from one’s children and how ACEs factor into these experiences.\n– Hear accounts of how separation from one’s children can create and/or intensify feelings of grief\, shame\, and isolation\, which can compromise executive functioning and lead to or increase mental health issues\, substance abuse and/or criminal activity.\n– Discuss how recognition\, support\, and compassion for parents with these experiences help them develop greater resilience in the face of their grief and allow them to live a more productive and purposeful life.\n– Learn how Bellis’ Stronger Together Peer Support Model works to mitigate this hidden\, yet pervasive crisis.
