DESCRIPTION:Adult Adoptees from all placing agencies are welcome to attend. While each story is unique\, we recognize that there are many core similarities that adoption weaves into life experiences. Topics will be suggested\, but each month the conversation will be open to relevant\, participant-led\, discussion. This is a safe\, confidential space\, the group is facilitated by adult adoptee CH/LSS staff. \nParticipants may have been adopted through any type of adoption (infant\, international\, foster care adoption) and through any agency/county. After registration\, you will receive information to join the next session. This service is provided by funding made possible by the Minnesota Department of Children\, Youth\, and Families. \nMeeting Details\nThis group meets on the second Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. (CT). Meetings alternate between online and in-person options. There is no cost to attend. SUMMARY:Equine Therapy for Children
DESCRIPTION:Horses are highly sensitive to human emotions and body language\, which makes them uniquely suited for therapy.  This workshop will provide information about what equine therapy is\, the science behind it\, the benefits\, and what it looks like in practice. \n  \n\nCorri Schmidtke Woods (she/her) completed her Masters Degree at Augsburg University in 2019 in Social Work\, with an emphasis on clinical social work. Corri is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work. Corri has experience working with children\, adolescents\, teens\, and their families. She specializes in working with children and families navigating trauma\, attachment and adjustment challenges. Corri uses a blend of traditional therapy modalities\, as well as trauma informed equine therapy. Corri is passionate about empowering families and children to discover their strengths\, deepen their relationships\, and thrive together.

SUMMARY:[Part 1] Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health
DESCRIPTION:Adolescence is a time of major transition physically\, emotionally\, and socially. Healthy sexuality is an important part of adolescent development\, and caring adults play a key role in helping young people develop healthy routines\, behaviors\, and relationships that they can carry into their adult lives. During this workshop\, participants will review adolescent health data trends\, learn basic information about puberty and anatomy\, and gain skills for answering sensitive questions regarding sexuality. Participants will also learn how experiences of trauma may impact adolescent sexual health\, and how their own values impact their ability to effectively support young people during this important time in their lives. \nPlease note this training is two days and will take place 12/18/25 and 1/22/26 at 10am to 12 pm. \n  \n\nJill Farris\, MPH is the Director of Adolescent Sexual Health Training and Education at the Healthy Youth Development – Prevention Research Center at the University of Minnesota. As Director of the training department\, she leads capacity building initiatives to strengthen community-based adolescent sexual health programs\, and has significant expertise in the essential skills needed to facilitate sexual health programming.

DESCRIPTION:The online track is best suited for individuals who want flexibility\, have limited business hour availability\, and/or those who prefer virtual learning. \nCouples may complete their education together or pursue it separately. SUMMARY:Black Teens in Action 2026 Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Black Teens in Action is a youth driven\, in-person program where Black teens can grow\, connect\, and take action together. Over four weeks\, participants will design and lead a community service project that makes a real impact—whether it’s hosting a block party\, organizing a cleanup\, or preparing meals for those in need.\nYouth will meet once a week for three weeks to plan\, gain leadership and advocacy skills\, build relationships\, and explore their cultural identity through meaningful discussions and team-building activities. The final fourth week is dedicated to bringing their project to life in the local BIPOC community. \nYouth will receive a stipend of $550 for their time and leadership if they participate in the entire program. Dinner will be provided at each meeting. \nTo qualify for Black Teens in Action\, teens need to be: \n\nBetween 13-17 years-old\nIdentify as Black or African American\nHave been adopted\, or currently in Foster Care or Kinship Care in Minnesota.\n\nThis program can only accommodate 10 youth on a first come first serve\, all other youth will be waitlisted.\n\nDates: \n\nJanuary 6\, 2026\nJanuary 13\, 2026\nJanuary 20\, 2026\nJanuary 27\, 2026\n\nTime: 5:30pm – 7:30pm \nLocation: Storehouse Grocers in St. Paul (subject to change) \nUMOJA MN is a MN Department of Children\, Youth and Families funded program for families and caregivers of Black children and youth who are adopted or fostered in MN.

You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of what’s behind bedtime battles\, along with tools to create more peace\, connection\, and rest for everyone in your home.
