DESCRIPTION:Empowering Providers to care for Children’s Natural Hair \nPresented by: Faatemah Ampey \nFormat: Hands-on Workshop \nDuration:  3 hours \nChildren: ages 3-12years \nTarget Audience: parents and caregivers of children with court\, curly or Afro. \nCapacity: 10–15 participants (to allow for personalized attention) \nSupplies: Each parent will be paired with their child  with textured hair\, combs\, brushes\, conditioner\, styling products\, detangling tools\, and printed guides. \n\n\n\nWorkshop Overview:\nCaring for textured hair is not just a routine—it’s an act of love\, identity affirmation\, and cultural connection. \n Curl Confidence is a compassionate\, no-judgment\, hands-on workshop designed specifically for textured hair. Led by award-winning hairstylist and educator Faatemah\, this session provides practical skills\, foundational hair knowledge\, and cultural context to empower parents to nurture their child’s hair with confidence and care. \nThrough live demonstrations\, guided practice\, and open dialogue\, parents will learn how to wash\, detangle\, moisturize\, and style curly and coily hair with sensitivity\, intention\, and pride. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives:\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will: \n\nUnderstand the unique needs of textured hair porosity and hair types.\nGain hands-on practice with proper washing\, sectioning\, and detangling techniques\nLearn how to maintain moisture and prevent breakage\nMaster a few go-to styles \nExplore the emotional and cultural importance of hair in the Black community\nLeave with a personalized product guide and confidence-building hair care routine\n\n\n\n\nWhy This Workshop Matters:\nMany parents want to do right by their children but feel overwhelmed or under-informed when it comes to natural hair care. Be-You-tiful is an inclusive\, affirming workshop designed to empower teens—especially those with textured hair—with foundational skills in skincare\, hygiene\, and hair care. \nLed by award-winning beauty expert and educator Faatemah\, this session offers more than just beauty tips—it provides life tools.
