Leveraging his work with millions of students since 1999, Mawi Asgedom will share specific actionable tools caregivers can use to connect with their kids and help kids thrive. Mawi will also share his personal story – from a refugee camp to Harvard, to author and entrepreneur and now a father of four children – and applicable lessons and reflections for audience members.

He is currently the CEO and founder of Inner Heroes Universe, an organization that strengthens the mental health and well being of youth. As a child, Mawi fled civil war in Ethiopia and survived a Sudanese refugee camp, before resettling in the United States, where he overcame poverty, language barriers, and personal struggles to graduate from Harvard University, delivering the commencement address to an audience of 30,000. His first company, Mawi Learning, pioneered the field of online and blended Social Emotional Learning. Mawi Learning trained millions of students around the world and won many innovation awards before being acquired by the global education company ACT.
