The Reel Hope Project’s mission is A Forever Family for Every Child. They accomplish this by creating professional and personalized two-minute profile video “reels” for children and teenagers in the foster care system who are awaiting an adoptive family. Each reel is provided free of charge to referring private agencies and counties, and serves as a critical supplement to the otherwise limited information available to prospective adoptive families.
When permitted by the referring social worker, The Reel Hope Project also shares finalized reels at weekly events, introducing people to learn more about Minnesota’s waiting kids, and educating local communities on Minnesota’s child welfare landscape.
Headquartered in Minneapolis, The Reel Hope Project team is active in a growing number of states across the country. Given the nature of recruitment services, The Reel Hope Project serves many teenagers, sibling groups, and youth with higher needs. The power of storytelling has proven to be substantial, and to date, over half of the youth featured in a Reel Hope Project video have been matched or adopted!

The Reel Hope Project provides professional and personalized two-minute profile video “reels” for children and teenagers in the foster care system who are awaiting an adoptive family.
Each reel is specific to that child’s biological and developmental age, as well as their interests and goals for the future. Their team travels the full state of Minnesota, coordinates the location of each reel, and covers any associated costs. The turnaround time for reach reel is approximately one week.
The Reel Hope Project works to equip social workers with an invaluable tool to share their kids’ stories, and to invite families across the state to meet Minnesota’s waiting kids.
