When family systems break down or a crisis occurs, Nexus-Kindred Family Healing is here to help. We work tirelessly to make sure every child is cared for in a safe and secure home—whether they need short-term care while a family is in transition or a permanent place to call their own.

Because every child deserves to feel known, cared for, and valued.

Our foster families are well-trained and fully supported by our professional team of social workers and therapists. And our adoptive families are realizing the dream of becoming parents—while giving children the family they long for.

Our mission to change the course of children’s lives by stabilizing families and strengthening mental health is woven into everything we do. Our goal is to help youth and families achieve and maintain safety, permanency, and well-being.

We provide a continuum of services to help youth and families recover, rehabilitate, and reintegrate to live happier, healthier lives.

We provide children and families with professional services that foster the development of healthy family relationships and supportive living environments.

These services include:

  • Adoption home studies and updates
  • Relative adoption services
  • Child-specific recruitment
  • Child placement services
  • Post-adoption services

Relative & Kin Home Study
Nexus-Kindred provides intensive support and guidance throughout the licensing process. Nexus-Kindred will be the licensing agency under this service. With that, Nexus-Kindred will complete paperwork, training, and the home study assessment in partnership with the relative/kin family. This service is available to any relative/kin family.

Relative & Kin Placement Support (METRO, SOUTH WEST & SOUTH EAST ONLY)
Nexus-Kindred provides case management services to relative/kin families throughout the duration of placement. This include in-person and/or phone/virtual contact with relative/kin families and youth at least once weekly. This service is available for families once licensed.

Intensive Family Support (EAST CENTRAL ONLY)
Support for relative and kinship caregivers being served by the county or tribal foster care system. Nexus-Kindred provides intensive in-home and ongoing support including referrals for community resources, and assistance working through challenges caring for relative youth.

Intensive Licensing Support
Nexus-Kindred offers in-home assistance to relative and kinship caregivers as they undergo the licensing process with their local county or tribe to become a foster care provider. This would include ongoing communication with the licensing workers and assisting the family to overcome any barriers and obstacles.

Relative & Kin Engagement Services
Nexus-Kindred provides outreach and engagement services to both informal and formal relative/kin caregivers. Within this service, Nexus-Kindred provides a consultation service to relative/kin caregivers. Current or prospective relative/kin caregivers can reach out to Nexus-Kindred to discuss the licensing process, potential barriers, and resource referral to best prepare to care for their relative/kin youth. Additionally, Nexus-Kindred provides general support to families within this service. This may include: resource referral, advocacy, assisting with housing resources, etc.
