Building/Address:  Crookston Eagles Club - 105 S Broadway, Crookston, MN 56716

Room: Banquet Room- you will enter the main door off the street and use the elevator or take the stairs up. When you get upstairs you just follow the hallway.

Parking: There is parking available on the street.  Otherwise, there is limited parking in two smaller lots behind the building (off of Ash St.), but visitors will need to pay attention to signage in those lots. Also, important to note that the traffic in front of the Eagles Club (on Broadway) is one way.

Nursing room: There is not a nursing room on site, however accommodation can be made by Polk County to set up some privacy screens in what they call the card room if needed.

Morning: 

The Minnesota Assessment of Parenting for Children and Youth (MAPCY) The Minnesota Assessment of Parenting for Children and Youth (MAPCY), is the assessment tool used with Minnesota’s Northstar Care for Children program. The MAPCY determines the supplemental benefit rates for Minnesota’s children in foster care, adoption and kinship. The session will provide an overview of the tool, including policy and SSIS functionality.

The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) process  The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) is the mechanism we have to ensure protection and services to children who are placed across state lines for foster care, adoption, parental, relative and residential placements. The ICPC portion of this training will include when the ICPC applies/does not apply, types of request that can be made, responsibilities of sending agency vs. receiving agency, process and timeframes, and various pieces of information that will be helpful for caseworkers or those that use the ICPC.

Afternoon:

Social and Medical History   Presentation to discuss the purpose and importance of the document while introducing any new information available.  Documents that are requirement for a child that has been in out of home care for 6 months and/or at the time that an agency has started permanency proceedings. The topic is relevant to all agency staff that works with children in out of home care. Presentation is strongly focused on the responsibilities of the agency and the preservation of the child's story.

Northstar Adoption Assistance   This training will provide a review of policies and procedures related to establishing eligibility for Northstar Adoption Assistance and legally finalizing an adoption. It will include a general overview from start to finish of the Northstar Adoption Assistance program. There will also be some review of relevant SSIS documentation and also tips and tricks to use in order to help achieve timely permanency for children in out-of-home placement.
