[Fall Forum] Restoring Developmental Pathways for Children Impacted by Trauma and Neglect

November 18, 2025 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Free

Children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other significant disruptions in care often carry unmet developmental needs that affect their ability to trust, self- and co-regulate, and form connected and safe relationships. This webinar will introduce a practical framework for understanding these gaps through the lens of core relational needs and the need–response cycle — a foundational process in healthy development. Participants will learn how trauma, neglect and deprivation interrupt this cycle, how these disruptions show up in a child’s inner and outer worlds, and how to intentionally offer “missing experiences” that promote healing. Drawing on principles from attachment theories, sensory processing, psychomotor, psychotherapy and developmental psychology, we will explore concrete strategies for attuning to a child’s underlying needs, responding in ways that build safety and connection, and supporting the gradual restoration of trust and healing.
