This presentation will help kinship caregivers understand consent options for school, financial and health care. Discussion will include care and custody options from the viewpoint of a social service provider. We’ll discuss consent of care, how to handle emergencies, and legal resources.

Presenter: Janet Salo is a kinship navigator through LSS’ Kinship Family Support Services. She is the parent of an adult with a developmental disability, and she has navigated many county, medical, legal and federal benefit systems. She is passionate about supporting kinship caregivers as they access services, resources and supports for themselves, and the children in their care.  Janet has a Grandfamilies Leadership Certificate, training in Family Group Decision-Making, and is a qualified Rule 114 Mediator.
