RFP underscores the importance of the mental states (thoughts, feelings, and intentions) of foster children and how they relate to the children’s behavior. A reflective foster parent helps the child to identify, organize and use words to express their confused thoughts, feelings and needs. The four aims of RFP are to improve: attachment relationships, emotional control, ability to deal with frustration, and awareness of others’ perspectives. Dr. Richard J.
